Fortnite: split-screen cooperation arrives on PS4 and Xbox One

With the latest Fortnite update , available since Thursday morning, it is now possible for owners of Xbox One or PS4 to play a game with another person in cooperation on the same console, in the comfort of their living room.

The option of playing two on the same screen, divided horizontally or vertically, was an essential component of many video games of the latest generations. However, in recent years, the increasingly sophisticated graphics, therefore heavier to manage for consoles, as well as the advent of online gaming have meant that fewer and fewer games offer a local cooperative mode.

With the exception of a few titles, such as Gears of War 5 , games from the Borderlands series, or Star Wars: Battlefront II , the vast majority of modern first-person shooter games are limited to single player or online multiplayer. .

For now, Fortnite’s local cooperative mode is limited to duo or squad games, but developer Epic Games has indicated that it will continue to improve functionality over time.

Thursday’s update also set the stage for Fortnite’s annual Winterfest holiday event. The island where the action takes place is very snowy and Christmas decorations have sprung up everywhere.
